LESC is a Chapter Club of the
Soaring Society of America and you must
become an SSA member to enjoy the benefits of club membership.
LESC provides five classes of membership. Monthly dues provide for usage of club ships on a scheduled basis. The only additional charges are for instruction and tows.
Expert Instruction is available for a flat $40.00 per 1.5 hour block of scheduled time.
Any licensed pilot will require a Field Check
from an authorized LESC CFIG prior to flying from our airport. This includes Associate
Members wishing to fly their own gliders. Members wishing to fly LESC gliders will
also require an aircraft checkout by an authorized LESC CFIG.
LESC provides prospective members an opportunity to experience the "Joy of Soaring"
by taking advantage of a 20 to 30 minute orientation flight. You'll be seated in
the front of one of our two place sailplanes piloted by one of LESC's FAA licensed
You'll enjoy a smooth, relaxing and safe 20 to 30 minute flight over the Elsinore
Valley while enjoying the view of the many mountain peaks visible as well as an
occasional view of Catalina Island.
You'll soar at 50 mph and have an opportunity to actually take the controls if you
wish, under the guidance of your Pilot in Command. You'll experience firsthand the
"Joy of Soaring"
and if you're as excited about soaring as we are, you can learn about joining LESC.
Ornate gift certificates are also available which make excellent gifts.
Orientation flights may be scheduled via telephone or by dropping by the clubhouse.
LESC collects a nominal fee of $8200
for orientation flights to cover expenses.
